Our Mission

Our mission is to provide psychological treatment to seriously ill children and adolescents using traditional and multi-disciplinary treatments. Treatment interventions are more effective when addressed by a variety of approaches. We specialize in treating children and teens who are dying or who have chronic illness.

Psychological services are provided by Reuben Lelah, Psy.D., Hawaii Licensed Clinical Psychologist. In addition, LSF awards scholarships and other financial assistance to allow individuals and their immediate family members to travel and obtain psychological evaluations and brain scans at leading research facilities and universities.

As funding becomes available, we constantly evaluate new clinical and collateral non-clinical programs geared towards serving the youth of the Big Island. Presently LSF serves local first generation families from 12 countries around the world.

Funds that we receive from grantors are used to provide high quality, dynamic psychological services to those that may otherwise not have the financial ability to receive such services.
